I noticed that my individual hosts always get awarded the same credit but between my hosts there is a big difference. Some get 57 points per tasks and others get much less, my Linux laptop gets the least with only 8 points per task. Strange... |

You need to run the benchmarks on this one https://nci.boinc.goofyx.pl/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10479 Has only the default benchmark of 1 billion ops/sec and on a project not using fixed credit it dramatically reduces the credit you get. |

Yes, i saw it. Some host get 2-3 credits some 250-360 even. I don't know if anyone will be happy or not with that, but I changed it. For new series i set static 5 credits per tasks. In my personal opinion static point will more honest for every one. What do you think about it? If you have any idea about how many point i could set per WU just give me some info. |

Yes, i saw it. Some host get 2-3 credits some 250-360 even. It is impossible to create a correct credit system, there's conflicting views of what effort is. Somebody that runs 264 XEON cores for a couple of hours once a week Somebody that runs 4 Raspberry Pi cores 24/7 Some projects openly admit that they try to attract people with very powerful computers, other projects want it to be more widespread and inclusive. Basically you target your credit system to your philosophy about what you want boinc to be about, do you want the maximum amount of work to be done in the shortest time or do you want as many people to contribute as possible. Some projects do something that is a bit silly, they adjust the credits to the amount of time used, I get the same credit per day whether I run my computers at 1GHz or 3GHz. |

i agree with you. but with my NCI project every CPU make the same work so in my opinion should get the same credits. new series of test app WU have 10 static credits, but i don't know is good enough <- it's why i asking you all if you have any idea about that before production app |

In my personal opinion static point will more honest for every one. What do you think about it? Since this is NCI, fixed credits per WU is the only thing, that makes sense IMHO, since the amount of work is allways the same. For reference: WUprop@home, also NCI, gives 2 credits per WU which runs for 1 hour, but you also might try to find out, what you have give until now per hour on average and set that as a new credit per WU. Or those 10/WU, doesn't matter much, but it should be a fixed amount per WU. |

Now I got 0.00 credits for a valid WU, that's a bit too low perhaps. ;-) |

10 credits per wu sounds reasonable! |

10 credits per workunit is a fair amount. |

For a project with an NCI app that has tasks that mostly idle over an hour even 1cr would be quite ok. - - - - - - - - - - Greetings, Jens |

i agree with you. I agree. Fixed credits per task is good for NCI projects. While it does mean that our credits per day will go down a bit, it's more fair and realistic since the credits were being awarded based on the BOINC benchmark scores previously, so fast computers were getting a lot more credits for doing exactly the same tasks. |
