I would think that would block all OSs, Windows included, but those attach OK.

Default ubuntu build is old and buggy.

There are several Linux hosts out there but a huge majority are Windows. V7.14 and 7.9 of BOINC on these 2 Linux hosts so it's possible.

If that version can't be downloaded from the main website it can't be ready for general use, it is the only one that can't (for Linux that is).

At the moment it will be too much trouble to follow the install instructions, so I will keep what I have as it is working fine.

I prefer the direct downloads from Berkeley website as it puts components where I want them, The various distributions put things all over the place and I can't work with that.

Or can add a repository for automatic updates.

The problem is bigger than BOINC. My mac browser (safari) has a similar problem talking to the project site.
